[How to] Flagship under 64bit system [100% working for everybody]

Hi,

it was very hard to find a solution, to run Flagship with Win7. I needed 4 Days to find it out. -.-

Ok lets start...

I have Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit
So this solutions dont work on my system:

- The Guide fom mcsro
- XP-Mode (XP-Mode cant start games, because the virtual graphic card is to low and dont support games, this mode is only for applications)
- To start FS with Applocal and the chinese language pack

I installed a VMWare on my system, because its sucks to install a secound OS only to run Flagship. -.-

For my solution you need a good computer with many GB of RAM.

So i can say with my experience you need minimum 4GB RAM and a dualcore.

My system has a quadcore, 4GB RAM and 1GB graphic card. (But for a VM you dont need a good grahic card )

STEP 1:

What you need to use VMWare.

CPU: DualCore (minimum) or higher
RAM: 4GB (minimum) or higher
Graphic card: 512MB or higher
HDD: 20GB or more (If you only to run silkroad on the vm you dont need more hdd space.
(I have 4GB and i have a RAM utilization form 95%. o.O, so start the vm, silkroad (Flagship) and you can go afk)


Downloads:

- VMWare Workstation (30-days Trail)
-- http://www.computerbild.de/download/VMware-Workstation-903439.html (It´s a german site, because im a german guy BUT if you want to download the VM from the official site you need a registration and so you can download it instantly.)

- OS (operating system)
-- Image or DVD needed. (You can install WinXP 32bit or Win7 32bit (I´ve installed Win7 32bit Home Premium.))

- Silkroad cSRO
-- You know to find the installer, patchs ect...

- IP Mana
-- http://ipmana.com (A tutorial can you find on this section)


STEP 2:

If you have step 1 completed we can start with step 2.

1. Install VMWare Workstation 7 on you system
2. Start VMWare Workstation 7 and create a new virtual maschine
3. Mount you Windows image or use your cd/dvd
4. Install Windows (For Win7 32bit i needed 20minutes)
5. VMWare asks you "Do you want to make an update?", because 3D grafphics work better and you have no lags. You say YES.
6. Install the update und restart your windows in VM (do not RESTART your computer, RESTART the virtual computer.)
7. To copy the files form cSRO, ipmana, flagship ect... you can select you computer about your network. FIRST, enable the network settings in your vmware options, or you download csro, patches, update ect... what you need new from the internet.
8. Install cSRO, updates, patches ect...
9. Install IPMana and run it.
10. Start Flagship, select your folder and start the game.
11. Have fun.


FINISHED!

I hope the method can help you.

So, you dont need a secound os. And a VM dont need a big space on your hard drive.

Note to the FlagShip developers: The most gamers witch play high end games have a good pc and over 3.5GB RAM, so you need 64bit.
So please, update FS for 64bit system. The gamers pay for the program and so we want to run it unter 64bit.

EDIT: I´m online with Ipmana in csro 2h without lags or dc´s. I have DSL 3000.

Someone confirmed that?

This will work... because it is like running a pc under a pc.... here at work we have things like a our DNS and Mail servers all.... on the one pc because they need very little power to run... so it saves on equipment cost. This is more a work around then a fix, but will work none the less.

@GoldiLocks: You run cSRO with DNS and Mailservers? Thats right?

LOL no... I work for a ISP (internet server provider) cSRO is at home., but I have run iSRO and cSRO on a mac... using the same method you have shown here.

But I am testing a way to run FS on 64-Bit now.. and you may not need to do this. I think I found a work around.. I just need time to work on something

But I will give you credit for thinking outside of the box

it's a cool method but it requires a good pc and makes pc work a lot! 95% ram utilisation is something ^^



btw goldi, after u confirm ur method, share it with us im wondering if i buy flagship, but i wont while there's any method to make it work on 64bits x)

I´m searching for another method too, because the method with the VM can´t be a solution for a long time.

EDIT: FS runs 4h and than, the client cSRO crashs. Not good.

I was incorrect... FS will run with this but it does not detect your roles so you still need to used a VPC for now... sorry aeveryone.
